Cullen's rough day

3 gaps in his smile.

Cullen had a rough day Friday.  He had an appointment at the dentist to have 2 teeth extracted, to make room for his adult teeth coming in.  (And hopefully save a little bit in braces....)  While there, the dentist recommended just taking the top one out too, it had been loose for several months.  It's the discolored one he injured as a toddler, and they have been worrying about an abscess for a long time.  So, we went for it.  He was a trooper, as always!  I had been prepping him for the extraction, telling him they will give him laughing gas, it will make him feel funny, but it won't hurt.  Halfway through the procedure he said "Why do they call this laughing gas, but I'm not laughing?"  That made the dental hygienists within earshot laugh.  :)

When we got home, he went straight to his bed and slept about an hour and a half.  So unlike him.  When he woke up, he was WOUND... so like him!  In the afternoon, he and Finn were playing in the backyard when he came running in the house with a couple tears and a frantic voice.  He had stepped on a bee.  He pulled the stinger out himself and didn't really want to sit while I put the baking soda paste on.  He humored me, finally.

On another note, Cullen went on a field trip to Rum Village Thursday.  His friend Evan reminded the class about ticks, and that they might find them on their nature walk.  All week Cullen was concerned about "tick tocks" and he begged me to put bug spray on him.  (I didn't, I don't like that stuff.)  He is NOT a country boy, that is for sure.

Choo-Choo, Baptism, & Bunk Beds

A trip to KS isn't the same without a trip to the Gage Park Choo-Choo!

In fact, Finn told everyone we encountered on the long drive from IN, about the Gage Park Choo-Choo!

They had to feed the ducks too!

We all checked out the baby bird on grandma & papa's front door.

Sweet Ellie with her mom and godparents- Danielle and Sean.

She didn't even cry!

Finn slept most of mass and through the whole Baptism.

Cullen was fascinated with Ellie.

Cullen wanted to hold her and pick her up.  Finn was less enthused.

All the cousins!  Clare, Cullen, Ellie, and Finn.

Bunk Beds!  Ohh the excitement!
We had a great, whirlwind trip back to Kansas.  In fact we are all still trying to rebound from how busy we were.  We were able to pick up Adah and Arley's old bunk beds while we were back too.  The boys have spent 2 nights on them and they think they are the greatest thing in the whole wide world!  :)  So far, so good... (translation- no one has gotten hurt yet!)

Here's another Cullen story-  I ran into Mrs. Lohr after helping in the lunchroom yesterday.  She told me about one day last week, she was out of the classroom and the kids were acting up for Mrs. V.  When she got back into the classroom she read them the riot act for acting up and how Mrs. V doesn't like that.  Then Cullen stood up walked right up to Mrs. V and said "Mrs. V, I like you."  Then turned around and sat down.  She said they both cracked up and Mrs. Lohr referred to Cullen as "Eddie Haskell, over here."  Hahaha!  Cullen is a people pleaser, that's for sure!  It's funny because that day after school he told me that he told Mrs. V he liked her and that Mrs. Lohr and Mrs. V were laughing.  :)  I had a feeling it went something like that...

preschool Father's Day lunch

Giving dad his Father's Day gift.

Having lunch with daddy.

Singing a song to the dads and grandpas.
Today was Finn's Father's Day lunch at preschool.  Finn was so excited to have Sean there. :)  As usual, Finn ate a ton... in fact he cleaned his plate!  It sure was fun to be a fly on the wall there today.  ;)

t-ball time!

Cullen fielded a few balls this game.

Playing 3rd base.  Cullen has got one of the best arms
on the team, he can rocket the ball to 1st.  The
coach asked him if he ate his Wheaties this morning.
The mothers in the crowd gasped as he threw the ball
to 1st, afraid the 1st baseman couldn't catch it.

Up to bat. :)

We heard about this t-ball league from two dads in Cullen's class.  We were able to get on their team and told the Wilson's about it too.  So Cullen is playing t-ball with David, Gayvn, and Quinn.  It has been so fun!  After the game we went to Krispy Kreme and had donuts with the Wilson Family.  :) Cullen ate SEVEN glazed donuts!  Can't say I blame him, but wow... where does it go?

Sean has been working with the boys in the backyard- batting, throwing, catching.  It's paid off... Cullen is excelling.  He is doing great at it and we just had the first game.  I think it's finally clicked for him!  Finn isn't far behind and asks me everyday to sign him up when he's old enough.  :)  One drill Sean has been doing is, putting a big basket in the yard and having the boys throw the ball into it.  Believe it or not, but Finn made as many as Cullen from the same distance.  :)

Mother's Day Tea

The rainbow fruit kabobs we made for the tea. :)

Finn's Mother's Day gift to me. :)

Friday was Finn's Mother Day Tea at school.  He was SO excited!  They sang "I'm a Little Tea Pot" and a "I Love my Mommy" song.  It was so precious!  He's already counting down the days to the Father's Day Picnic.  ;)

party in the North Quad

I don't know if you can tell, but Finn hit it!  The guy
is falling in.

Cullen hit it too!!

Riding Peanut.  This (red haired) woman was upset that she had
5 kids and none of them got her red hair.  She wondered
(my most asked question) "Where did his red hair come from?!"

I asked for a picture.  Finn- "Hurry up mom, we don't
have much time!"

Zahm Hall, Cavanaugh Hall, and the Filipino American Student Organization hosted the Zahm Spring Carnival in the North Quad this afternoon.  It was a really fun FREE event.  :)  We had a quick dinner there of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, pretzels, veggie tray, cookies, brownies, and juice... then the boys went straight for the bounces houses!  I didn't get a picture of the balloon animals the boys picked out, (thankfully) the swords popped before we headed home.
What a fun night!  And the boys fell right to sleep!  Always a plus, if you ask me.  ;)
